I wanted to create an in-person forum & safe spaces for artists to come together to discuss ideas, solutions, & build community to help grow the local music scene. I take pride in the format of this forum:
-I developed print outs that included questions about what it means to build community to aid in discussion.
-We then had a breakout session where I encouraged everyone to reach out to someone they didn't know in the room.
-Then we got back together for the think tank where we allowed artists and producers to ask specific questions pertaining to their business or creative endeavor to exchange ideas.
We had two in person meetups before the pandemic started then we continued our communications in a group chat. So many collaborations in this group took place! One I notably remember is having 2 artists from this community create songs & post social media to uplift the Justice for Josh campaign, advocating for the Joshua Ruffin who was murdered by Columbia PD.
